I have a 4.4 gpa and I am projected to get a 29-32 on the ACT. I am all honors classes and go to a top high school in my state though my school is known to be the “rich kid” school. To put it bluntly I am a nerd; I spend a many hours studying and I rarely hangout with friends. I want a school where nerds are the typical student and has a strong marketing, finance, or economics program. Currently, I have looked at CWRU it seemed perfect except I didn’t like the location and Northwestern which I really liked. I prefer a school that is over than 3,000 but less than 47,000. My mom really wants me to look at public schools too. Any ideas on schools I should look at?
If you are a nerd, I should expect you to lack in ECs.
NW is a reach for you.
You would probably do well at the University of Rochester.
I have okay ECs. I am on my DECA leadership board, 6th in he state for DECA (FYI DECA is an international business club), I did two projects for DECA, one where I had a root beer float sale and books, toys, and school supplies for a charity the other was a custom shorts of with my school’s logo where I raised over $800 for World Food Programme. I was in investment and trading club and I am somewhat active in my youth group. I helped my school win a DECA award for community service and I volunteered last summer at my local library helping with the summer reading program. I also was on the girls tennis team (freshman and sophomore) at my school (known to be really hard to make). My mom went to Northwestern too and my unweighted gpa is 3.8. I am currently writing two books too. To go into more depth about my DECA project I cowrote a 30 page paper and presented my project for DECA state. My school is known as one of the hardest in the state and is very cut throat even though it’s a public school.
