What school was unexpectedly your least favorite when you visited?

@SwimmingDad Rocky Top is the University of Tennessee song. UVA’s song it the Good Old Song.

Definitely not to beat a dead horse #2079 but Hum Ec is a separate campus, albeit small, east (and slightly north) of the ag quad. Law is S of Engineering (near the performing arts center). I definitely spent most of my time on the Arts quad but my point is that no matter where I had to be, it was walkable even if they were back to back classes. No busses needed. Distance is NOT an issue at Cornell like it is like places like U. o MI where engineering is a bus ride away. I think we are saying the same thing

@IzzoOne I know…but oddly they sang it at every bar and every party. No lie!

old parent- post #2057- you could be vegetarian and add nonfat/lowfat dairy. My Indian cardiologist H would approve. This a fun thread. One size sure does not fit all!

OSU - I have never been on a campus more in love with their school colors- that place is has been hosed with “Scarlett and Grey”

The GOS is only sung after scores. So no hype needed.More of a nice dignified celebration in the UVa style.

Yes, yes, yes, WE ARE is the very worst.

@toowonderful Have you been to Syracuse U, and met OTTO The ORANGE?!!! Having a color as a mascot
is a trend in NY State. Cornell is “Big Red” !! Even the plastic bags are red at Cornell.

New York is so politically correct it had to get rid of the Bear mascot
at Cornell and a First Nation/Native American mascot at Syracuse in favor of a COLOR!

Whitman College changed their team name from the Missionaries to the Blues, in honor of the nearby Blue Mountains. This is a big improvement many agree, although, I always liked the the former chant that rang through the gym, “Missionaries, Missionaries, we’re on top. Go Missionaries!”.

@barrons I understand its purpose. But usually people are excited when their team scores at a football game. It’s a snoozer and as for the “dignified”…I’ll let that one go.

@lastone03 UVa people are plenty excited when the team scores. I love the Good Ole Song. But, obviously some don’t and that’s okay too!

@momofsenior1 I’m going to contaminate the thread by complaining about one of my pet peeves about some posts on CC. OSU??? Is that Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Oregon State? (I’m sure there are some others.)”

Assume it meant “The” OSU. That annoying “The” is more than enough reason to hate The OSU. And also The PSU.

We are…highly annoying.

Don’t forget The George Washington University!

@Coloradomama - My D was accepted at Syracuse - the excessive Orange was one of the things that tipped her towards a different school ;). There’s still more Rah-Rah at OSU

OOS we never add that “The”. Their problem, not ours…

@Coloradomama, Cornell’s mascot is still the Big Red Bear; sorry if that doesn’t fit your narrative.

Just FYI, UCLA accepted 14% of the 111,000 applicants for the freshmen class starting fall '18.

Well, I guess most people would freak out if they knew what RISD’s mascot was…

@Hamurtle I believe that is the “unofficial” mascot, which oddly has been around since 2001. Then again, Seth MacFarlane is a RISD grad so that explains a lot.
