What school would be best for me?

Sorry if I give too much info, I’m new here.

I’m going to be a senior next year and I go to a public high school in Connecticut.

COLLEGE ESSAY:
I have yet to write my college essay (i did a draft before but didnt like it), though I plan on writing it on how I took on a lead part in the school musical (was previously an understudy) after one of the leads was kicked out. I had to take and learn his entire part in only 4 days before opening night so this shows how i can work under pressure, learn fast, and that as his understudy I paid attention just in case something like that would happen.

Even though it is about a theatre experience would any college enjoy reading the essay? Because it is more about me as a person? For example, if i were to apply to an engineering school would it be appropriate? I plan on making it interesting like a journal log, and titling it “4 months in 4 days” (the previous lead had 4 months to practice).

Note**** - things that say 12th grade havent happened yet but will, ill include things that i can when the brag sheet has to be sent out

bump???

Is money an issue?

not really, though id prefer to go to a more expensive school for my higher degrees if i go to college for more than 4 years

Your lower cost options will be your in state schools.

If you’re leaning toward science/engineering, take a look at Lehigh, Lafayette and Bucknell (all in Pennsylvania).

Lehigh is the toughest of those three, although I’d say you’re probably in good shape to get in.

Edit: They’re not cheap, but they’re options.

I think you may want to consider some test optional colleges where your SAT scores won’t hurt you. Franklin & Marshall and Muhlenberg are both test optional and have strong science programs as well as arts programs. Unfortunately, I think the previous suggestion of Lehigh, Lafayette and Bucknell would be very difficult if not unlikely with your current test scores.

You might also want to consider taking the ACT test. Good luck with your search

Your SAT scores are not consistent with your GPA, especially in light of the upward trend. You need to either improve your scores through practice, try the the ACT and/or apply to SAT optional schools.

I’ll circle back to money because it’s often not considered in making the list and it should be for most. This is not a candidate for need based aid schools except the SAT optional ones, so if she qualifies for aid she should look at those. I also don’t see much merit aid so if se does not qualify for need based aid (and no guarantee she’ll get into a need met school) then state schools are pretty much the only non $40K plus options.

Well, I do live with a single mother and my father is deceased. I also have one sibling in college already. I believe this can get some fees waived?

by the way im a male (no problem , I didnt specify).

ALSO, New York is an option too, I forgot that on the list.

^ How does this qualify as money not really being an issue (post #4)?? It looks like money is critical. You need to look at schools in CT. And definitely try the ACT. Many people do better on that than the SAT.

I can use a large sum of my inheritance for college education

though i agree i should look at schools in CT
