It’s a little hard to tell without an SAT or ACT. Have you taken any practice tests that might allude to your score?
@pineapple86 No, unfortunately I don’t have any scores with me and the last time I took the PSAT was in ninth grade.
you can always take a few practice tests on your own to gauge your abilities.
Come back when you have test scores. Also as a Junior, you should be taken the PSAT.
@gumbymom I have taken the PSAT this year but I haven’t gotten the scores back yet. I am expecting a 30 or 31 on the ACT though if that helps.
At the end of Junior year, calculate your UC GPA: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Post your PSAT/SAT and/or ACT scores and then posters can help you with your school list. Since it seems you are a California resident, so the UC’s are the obvious choice.
What about AP or IB or DE classes? There are only a few Honors courses that the UC’s will consider towards a weighted GPA so you can check these on this link: https://hs-articulation.ucop.edu/agcourselist#/list/search/institution
You are on the right track and keep up the good work. I would also sit down with your parents and find out your college budget and if you are eligible for need-based aid or merit aid. Affordability will be a major factor in determing for which schools you are competitive and worth applying.
What kind of schools are you looking into? Where do you want to go to school, what are you looking for in a school, what about that stuff? Also it’s really hard to know your chances without a confirmed SAT or ACT score. I suggest you take both as soon as possible and determine which one you’ll do better on. Your GPA is pretty good, but what is the rigor of the classes you have taken and does your school offer a lot of APs? If you’re looking towards the UC schools, you’ll need to have a tough course load.
Everything’s great, but test scores would really help. You would probably be competitive in baby ivy schools! Good luck!
