I have a 3.85 Weighted GPA and 32 ACT and was looking for schools that were on a similar academic level to Rochester and Villanova. I am looking into the other business or engineering so a lot of Liberal Arts colleges would be eliminated. Any ideas?
Bucknell and Lehigh. Lehigh also has a dual major in business and engineering. You are the perfect applicant for these two schools.
Question, what is wrong with U of R and Villanova?
Richmond has a good business program and has some similarities to Villanova, including a good basketball program!
Villanova is ranked 9th in hoops. It would be great to be on that campus.
Richmond does not have engineering.
@TurnerT You have answered many of my questions so, first off thanks for that. Secondly, nothing is wrong with u of R or Nova. I just wanted to find more schools.
Depending on just what you want, you might want to consider Case Western, Rensselaer, NYU, Syracuse, Boston University, Northeastern, Lehigh, Pittsburgh, Penn State, or Maryland. For business only (not engineering) check out the University of Richmond.
Stevens would be another school that I am looking at
Stevens is a very good school and the location Hoboken and NYC is excellent. I’m from NJ and lived in Hoboken after business school.
Socially, its not great and its 75% male with a good dose of commuters.
But it is a very good engineering school.
RPI is another to look at.
@ichiro If your priority is a modest party scene then University of Rochester is perfect. My nephew is there majoring in engineering and he loves it. He is very quiet. He is a freshman. U of R is an awesome school.
Villanova is very different.
Stevens is honestly the third best school in NJ behind Princeton and TCNJ. You’d do well to go there, in all honesty.
@LBad96 Stevens is fine but if money was not a concern and you had a choice of Boston College, University of Rochester, one of the top New England LACs, Colgate or Lehigh, maybe even ND, you would go to a pure engineering school that is 75% male?
@TurnerT considering I go to a school that is virtually polar opposite to Stevens, absolutely not. Lol.
CWRU is similar academically to Rochester. If you were to look just at business and engineering, then RPI would be as well.
If your looking into business, than TCNJ is the spot academically closest to Villanova. USNWR ranks Nova #1 in north and TCNJ tied with Bentley at #3 given that TCNJ has the nicer campus and much more affordable . Providence is #2 but business program not as strong as TCNJ. BTW TCNJ accounting is ranked #20 overall in the Unidted States of America!
If you lean toward Business then Babson with an Engineering Certificate from Olin (the two campuses abut), but be aware that there is no liberal arts community to speak of except Wellesley College which is a mile and a half away. Good D3 basketball at Babson, but not the same as D1.
Holy Cross offers econ degree and an accounting degree.
