Just to get a view of what students LMU attracts…

Jay:

Since you have visited each campus you are admitted to, why not just follow your heart? You are a proven smarty, I trust that you are in a much better position, and have done much more research than anyone you know of, to make this decision.

I didn’t want to answer when you asked how I compare LMU to other schools in another thread. (real easy to get into a heated discussion which ultimately leads to nowhere) But what I can tell you is that I love my experience at LMU, I have absolutely no regret whatsoever about attending LMU. I go back to visit the campus several times a year. I love it that much.

Good luck.

You’re right. Thank you :)

But may I ask why your username is UCR?

Jay,
Did you end up applying to the LMU Honors Program? I recall you had inquired about it on another thread. To answer your question from before, that I just saw, my son says he feels like he belongs at LMU and did not get that feeling at Oxy. He said it is all about “fit” for him and not “prestige” so that is why he has also turned down UCB and UCLA. We went to USC today for their admit day thinking he might change his mind but he says LMU it is! Good luck with your decision! I cannot imagine anyone being unhappy at LMU!

No I didn’t end up applying. By the time I learned that I had to apply it was too late. I had assumed that honors was given to students as some people said that they received the information with their acceptance package, which is obviously not the case all of the time. But you know what they say about people who assume…

I really love LMU in the sense that I feel like I can belong there, but I just don’t know what level it’s on academically and reputation-wise, which is not that important to me but will give me a more informed view of it. I just don’t want to make the choice based mostly on a feeling.

You can get a decent job with a LMU diploma, especially on the west coast, where LMU name is more recognized. The value of LMU diploma does take a hit once you move to the east coast, where the IVY league simply dominates.

LMU is exactly what you think it is. It’s solid but not crazily competitive. LMU is not a safety school, if that’s what you worry about. Most people go there, take on a large amount of debt, willingly so, mind you, simply because they fell in love with LMU.

UC- Riverside LOL
