I’m a high school junior, a female, middle class, and white.
My UW GPA is a 3.6, though my weighted is a 4.3. I’ve taken three APs (hope to get more during senior year,) and seven honors classes. I was an IB student freshman year, but I left to go to a competitive art school in which I take a multitude of writing courses, like poetry, fiction, literary criticism, oral interpretation, journalism, and creative nonfiction. I’ve been published in a literary magazine (and I’m editor on my school’s lit mag!) I’ve also won several contests and Scholastic awards for writing.
I am/have/do:
-organized several school events
-took dance for ten years
-violinist; play in the highest level of my city’s youth orchestra
-a member of National Honor Society and the Literary Arts Honor Society
-participate in the spoken word club, am hoping to president next year
-volunteer at the symphony and at the library
-attended competitive summer programs for journalism (idk if this is helpful)
-taken a few extra classes online
However, my grades freshman year were very, very low, and I was so traumatized from my IB experience I didn’t take very difficult classes sophomore year. I’m not taking very difficult classes this year, mainly because the creative writing requires four classes junior year, and I only have eight at school. I’m taking AP psych online right now.
My ideal schools are UC Davis and UT @ Austin. Do you think i could get in, even with my low GPA and lack of difficult classes?
