What schools should I be looking at?

I’m interested in studying PR/Communications and want a school that offers numerous internship opportunities and a good job placement rank.

For my academics I have a 3.7 W on a 4.0 scale. My grades have been an upward trend and I recieved a 4.0 both semesters of my junior year. What hurts my application the most is the fact that I got a 1460 out of 2400 sat score (i’ve only taken it two times;still waiting for june test results) and I get really bad test anxiety, so it’s really hard for me to take tests. I’ve also been diagnosed with ADHD Inattentive for 9 years.

I have over 300 hours of community service and have been in ASB (student government) at my school for the past 3 years. I’ve held a lot of leadership positions at my school and in my community.

What colleges would be the best for me? I’m really interested in schools in either nyc or California (where I’m a resident). Thank you so much!

I’ll leave the school suggestions to someone more familiar with the options in NYC and California (I don’t really know much about the UC system and only looked in Michigan for matches and safeties).

However, it’ll help us if you provide your unweighted GPA, your class rank (or approximate class rank if your school doesn’t rank), and the breakdown of your SAT score by subject.

I think that yours stats would fit well for Manhattan College, Fordham University, and Syracuse University. NYU would be considered a reach school.

Sorry, I don’t really know about California, but from what I’ve heard UCLA might be a good match.

Red Seven: My school doesn’t rank and I don’t really know where I would be. My unweighted gpa is a 3.55. My SAT score that I provided is my super score but here’s the breakdown: (December test- 1st time) 500 CR, 490 M, 450 W. (May test- 2nd time) 500 CR, 480 M, 470 W.

No chance at UCLA. Are your parents willing to pay $55K/year for the UCs?

Erin’s Dad: I wasn’t looking at UCLA. I’m also a resident of CA so I won’t pay out of state tuition for the UC’s.

have you thought about ucsd or ucsb? (:

You may want to see if you can do better on the ACT than on the SAT-R.

UCs and CSUs do not superscore ACT and SAT-R. They also calculate their own weighted high school GPA for admissions: [CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - GPA Calculator](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

Your current test scores are rather low for most UC schools, according to [University of California - Freshman admission profiles](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/freshman/profiles/index.html) .

You likely have good chances at many CSUs, and are likely in for unimpacted majors at unimpacted CSU campuses (3.0 GPA as a California resident), but you need to check up on how impacted each campus and major is. Some information is here: [Impaction | Student Academic Support | CSU](http://www.calstate.edu/sas/impactioninfo.shtml)

UC’S used to be an option for me in the past, but especially this year, it’s extremely hard to get in to any UC. I know a girl from my school who got into UCLA this year with a 3.2 gpa and 1400 sat score but she’ll probably just flunk out b/c she won’t be able to handle the school. I don’t really like CSU schools b/c of the big class sizes and that they’re mostly commuter campuses. I also don’t think they’re in very good locations.
That’s why I’m actually more interested in schools outside of CA.

OP, I was answering pinkpokadot’s recommendation of UCLA. Sorry I missed that you were IS for CA. What is your UC GPA?
