As of now, I know I want in a school is for it to be academically challenging, relatively strong art/humanities/history departments, and to be in or near a city.

I’m just interested in knowing what types of schools would be reaches/matches/safeties for me, if there are any particular schools I might like, and/or if there is anything you think might help me in looking for a college or to improve my chances.

You seem to have solid, consistent test scores. If you get a good SAT or ACT score, you should be able to look at top schools such as U Chicago, WUSTL, Northwestern, Rice, U Rochester, Boston College, and Vanderbilt. Also for top public universities- Michigan and Wisconsin may be good, because they are not off in a rural area. Look at good LACs as well. Many of them are not near cities, but Barnard and a few others are urban. If you need a lot of financial aid, you will have to focus on that, though. Boston University, George Washington U, and Tulane may be worth looking at whether you need aid or not. Whatever you do, include one or more good safety.

anyone???

Your SATs are weak compared to your GPA. Unless you can raise them, look at schools where your 1300 is at the 50% or higher such as USC.

What do you do at the historical society? I’m looking for possible internships and the like.

You have great stats. Concentrate on the SAT and ACT, that seems to be your only weaker spot (a 2020 is not a weak score, but you would be more competitive with a higher one). Considering that you got the 2020 on your first try without studying, I don’t think you’ll have a problem raising it if you practice for it. Also take the ACT.
I’d say that you’ll have a good shot at many of the most competive schools in the country if you raise your scores. Your GPA and ECs are awesome, just get your SAT to match and you’re good to go.

collegekid100…well, considering that I had never even looked at an SAT question before taking the test since Johns Hopkins in seventh grade, I think I’ll be able to raise that score significantly. I’m hoping for at LEAST in the 1400s and I think I might be able to do even better since I have a year to prepare now, and I know my weaknesses.

JBVirtuoso…I do lots of different things. Its a small organization and I help setting up exhibits, getting things ready for exhibits (polishing stuff, etc.), catalouging new acquisitions, and working on an inventory that will soon be put on their website. I just found the society online and emailed them asking about opportunities.

LiveInLove115…thanks, and I think I might take the ACT too-I got a 28 on the PLAN.

I think that my main problem, more singificant than SATs, is SATIIs. I had wanted to take MathII and Literature and get >700 on them, but I recently realized that I won’t be taking APLit until senior year, and by then taking an SATII would be useless. So I’ll have a 650Bio, 720USHistory, and hopefully something good in MathII. Would this be OK if math/science are my weak areas which is shown in my transcript (my only Bs are in Math 11H and Chemistry H)
Oh and also leadership. I’m not sure if you could see any leadership in my ECs.
