Currently an incoming freshman attending ASU’s Barrett and while I am sure that I would not regret 4 years here, I believe I would be happier elsewhere. My HS stats include 3.8 UW GPA, 32 ACT, 1480 SAT, 800 Math Level II subject test, NMF, and more. If I were to get a 4.0 as a CS major, what schools could I realistically transfer to after my freshman year is over? Thanks
There are quite a few open doors for you. I’d recommend that you research some top CS programs. If you can retake the ACT / SAT and get a 33+ and / or a 1500+, respectively, you’d be solid for some top schools. I recommend you look at some great CS programs such at USC (Viterbi), Carnegie Mellon University, and Georgia Tech, to name a few.
Oh, and keep in mind that financial aid for transfers is not great, so if financials is an issue, you should look at schools that attempt to meet full need / are need-blind.
What is it that would make you happier elsewhere? Without knowing what doesn’t make you happy about ASU it’s impossible to say where you will be happy. If you aren’t happy before you even started I think you have to figure out what you aren’t happy about.
“are need-blind” is usually not pertinent. Need-blind schools that don’t meet full need (like NYU and most state schools) are often not affordable, and avoiding need-aware meet-full-need schools can miss schools that work wonderfully.
That’s what I meant. Sorry if I wasn’t clear. guess I should’ve typed “and / or are need blind”
