What Schools would be good safeties for me?

<p>I’m a Junior at a Private all boys Catholic school</p>

<ol>
<li>I want to go somewhere warm year-round like California and Florida.</li>
<li>3.7 Weighted, 560 CR 600 MT 560 W <– they WILL go up, I guarantee you that</li>
<li>Very rigorous classes, all of 3 years of highschool, except for 2 classes, I’m in honors, and this year I’m taking two APs.</li>
<li>ECs are solid in my opinion, I’m an advertising manager at one club, I’ve done volunteer work in Johns Hopkins Hospital, I’m one of the best artists in the school</li>
<li>Money is not that big of a problem for me</li>
</ol>

<p>To be considered a safety, one rule of thumb is that your scores should be above the 75th percentile for enrolled students. That would be the case for the University of California - Riverside with your current scores, though I’m not sure just what effect you’d get from being a full pay OOS student applying to a state university in the current financial environment. Presumably a pretty good effect.</p>

<p>The 75th percentile scores at some of the other UCs are quite a bit higher. At UCSD, they are 650-700 per component. You can see a ranking of public and private California (or Florida) schools with SAT scores, etc., on stateuniversity.com

<p>any states that have year-round warm climate would be sufficient and for majors, I’m kind of undecided but I like psychology, environmental science, anthropology so far.</p>

<p>an enthusiastic sports crowd would be great too, but not too much of a party school</p>

<p>I agree… I listed it as a match or safety based on his hopes of bringing up his scores.</p>

<p>Loyola Marymount not quite a safety but a match at this point. If your test scores do come up it could become a safety. Second Redlands and add Cal Lutheran as safeties. </p>

<p>Saint Mary’s would be safe too but it isn’t nice weather year round. It’s lovely until November then rainy/foggy on and off through April and school is out in May. This year they even had snow!!!</p>
