What shoes or clothing do you hope to meet again in Heaven?

My mom made me the “Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang” dress when I was in third grade from a Butterick pattern. It was a pink floral print with lace and satin ribbons and a glorious sash. I don’t know where it went. My DD has always been a “dress” girl and I really longed to have that dress for her to play “dress up” in. My mom got dementia and so many of her wonderful sewing/knitting/quilting projects seemed to get lost in the confusion. I mourn those like old lost friends.

I just remembered something else.

In fifth grade, girls were finally allowed to wear pants to school. I had a pair of jade green bellbottoms with a purple and black design. I wore them with a golden yellow poorboy and matching golden yellow socks. I was firmly convinced it all matched, and that I looked fabulous and cool.

You DID look groovy…

I bet we all looked groovy back then. CC has all the groovy, cool people !

From about 1979 thru 1984 I never ever bought anything that was outside of a thrift shop or cost over $20. And I had a closet full of fabulous clothes. Evening gowns from the 40’s,swing skirts from the 50’s and leopard cha cha pants from the 60’s. I looked mah-ve-lous.
I want that entire closet back.( And that old free wheeling, club hopping lifestyle as well)

Once I pass through the pearly gates, I’m going to look for my Calvin Klein jeans from 1981. Nothing came between me and those Calvins. Actually, I still have those jeans. They’re buried in a box in the basement. I have to admit that I have pulled them out from time to time and looked at them wistfully. I couldn’t get my big toe in them now. Not only do I long to be that thin again, but I long for the fun and carefree days back then. Lots of good times in those jeans.

I had some hiphuggers in my tiny HS days that were a teeny red and white check. I thought I was hot stuff in those pants.

I had Calvins, too. Size 6! I squeezed into them for a brief and shining moment. I onlly recently donated them to the high school for their costume department.

My Frye boots, which became too small on me after two pregnancies made my feet grow, have found a new home in DD’s closet and on her feet! I have just bought myself a pair of fabulous new cowboy boots with hearts and angel wings on them–and I don’t even live in Texas!

I would also love to wear my suede hot pants and vest outfit from 1970, as well as my very first pair of bellbottom hiphugger jeans–I had embroidered a banana applique on them and considered myself VERY VERY hip. I would also love to see my white patent leather platform sandals that I wore to work many, many days in the early 70’s when I lived in Miami.

For me, a pair of “traveling pants” Sebago boat shoes that were so comfy. Many friends borrowed them and they all loved the fit too.

A pair of shoes that remind me of a heavenly time in my life are the Keds cap toe sneakers that my girls wore when they were young. I must be hormonal because thinking about it is making me tear up!

My Frye boots, too. And the purple and white striped bell bottoms with the purple quarter-zip sweater I wore in junior high. I thought I was quite cool. I’d also like the Levi corduroys I wore in college. And as long as I’m wishing, can I have my college body back? Oh, and my Nikes with the big red swoosh. I could go on and on…
