What should a "well rounded education" include?

What should a “well rounded education” include outside of one’s major?

Reading/writing skills?
Math?
Humanities?
Social studies?
Science?
Foreign language?
Other?

To what extent and depth?

Reading, because it’s the key to all learning.

Writing, because it doesn’t matter how great your idea is if you can’t communicate it effectively on paper.

History, because “those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

The arts, because beauty gives meaning to life.

Oral communication, ability to interract, mobilize and convince people.

Curriculum that develops one spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, socially, and physically.

Gorgeous classmates for a happy child.

Gosh, I had a whole different interpretation for “well rounded” than previous posters do. Studying math AND history is not what I thought well-rounded meant.
For me, well rounded means more than just hitting the usual books in the usual classes. More to an education than just classroom studies. For me it would mean some sports activities, clubs, and perhaps some voluntary community service. I’ve always said not all learning is in the classroom.

appreciation for the natural environment.
Where is our place in the world and our responsibilities & rights in that environment.
Appreciation & understanding of the expressive arts. Music, dance, drama as well as that on a canvas.

Fluent in 4 languages. Proficient in 2 musical instruments. Trained singer. In depth knowledge of opera, wine and the classics. Black belt in 2 martial arts, fine triathlete. Professional driver and gourmet chef, private pilot license. Able to hack a computer and build a house. Skilled in the art of love.

Skilled in the art of love.

Can you take that class pass/fail?

It is only offered distinction/fail.

OP, you left off your list two crucial areas – art and music.

I intended for “humanities” to include art and music as well as literature.
