<p>I saw a helpful video on youtube of a Stanford College Admissions lady going through the process. They like to see LEADERSHIP, and a specific interest. What should I do to get accepted into an Ivy? Also, I was considering being a lawyer. What extracurriculars should I be a part of if I’m going to be a lawyer?</p>
<p>Anything. To get into an undergrad college, they are not looking for specific ECs. They are looking for you to excel at whatever you do.</p>
<p>Once you’re in college, only then do the specific TYPE of ECs actually matter - med schools (graduate school) like to see medical volunteering (clinic/hospital) and/or biology research, for example. However, doing those ECs are not expected nor advantageous over other ECs for getting into an undergrad college.</p>
<p>liddochris: you’re all over the map. YOu should look at some of the previous advice you’ve been given and buck up and attack your 2.9 cumulative GPA. All this talk about “what should I do to become a doctor or lawyer” goes no where near ECs or clubs or leadership. It goes to your becoming a decent student. That means everything and anything to get your GPA up.</p>
<p>If you’re insistent on finding the “magic club” to start yet can’t consistently get As – you really have no shot whatsoever at selective schools and will have to learn your lesson at whatever college you eventually attend.</p>
