Anything I can buy from Amazon to prepare for college?

What exactly do you mean? My kid is buying sheets and other supplies for his dorm. Or are you talking about preparing for testing to try to get admitted?

Well, you could buy the Amazon Prime for 2 day shipping. Amazon was my primary site for buying stuff on short notice.

anything i will need for college =P

“anything I will need for college” is possibly one of the vaguest requests you could make on a forum dubbed “College Life” - are you talking about academic preparation?

Like a how-to book on college success; (how to take notes, study for exams, and manage your time, etc)?
Or things like sundries and other items for your dorm/apartment?
Clothing?
School supplies and stationary?
Textbooks?

I assume OP’s talking about items for the dorm. There’s a pretty comprehensive list on the top of this section (IIRC, it’s stickied). Here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-life/82285-a-to-z-what-to-bring-to-college.htm

Also, check your school’s website for any recommendations. They might have a list.

Oh - if it is for dorms, not too sure how common this is, but a lot of my friends and I have been receiving mailings from Target, Walmart, and Bed, Bath, and Beyond that have lists of suggested items to bring to college. Obviously they have a vested interest in you buying more than you actually need from their store, but nevertheless, such mailings (which are also online) are pretty good in terms of getting a feel for what you should be looking at.

In preparation for college, you should buy what you NEED on Amazon if it’s what you want.

Finding out what you red for college is a good start…

Went through your post history and saw you’re going to UC Davis:

^That’s their (aforementioned) list

@Vctory - this helps a lot thanks!

@preamble1776 - yes, all of those, any specific items from amazon i should purchase.

i’m posting this to get suggestions on what i would need to prepare

like… was there anything when you guys went to college and thought… “man, i should have brought this along with me or i should have bought this before coming here”?

you could buy general things like books, towels, shower caddys, power strips (buy atleast 3), a robe, notebooks, school supplies. hangers etc.

Honestly, starting with the very bare minimum is the way to go. Getting an Amazon Prime account is a great idea. For students you can get it at a discounted rate, and it is very well worth it. As you find out what you actually need, you can buy it and have it two days later because of Prime shipping.
