What should I do about my resume for an internship?

My gpa is currently a 2.35 and I have a brother-in-law that works at Intel. My mom and sister are telling me to give my resume to him so he can give it to Intel for a chance at an internship but the thing is:

 1. Intel requires a 3.0 gpa.
 2. My family doesn’t know what my gpa is. They think I have a 4.0

What should I do? Do they check my gpa? I don’t know what to say to them too.

I don’t see how it would hurt… Though I don’t see how your parents would mistake your 2.35 gpa with a 4.0 unless you deliberately mislead them…

I’d recommend you just don’t put the GPA on and roll the dice.

I will also advise you to not put the GPA on. If Intel requires a 3.0 GPA they may think it is a joke seeing a 2.35 GPA.

I don’t know if you’re studying something computer science related, if so make sure you highlight your skills and tech background to employers with less emphasis on GPA. Networking helps but when you have a 2.35 GPA…dunno.
Try to work with a local company or a large company with 2.0 (or they mostly have 2.5) requirement while getting enough experience in your field, and work on your GPA by taking easy classes + more credit hours.

Also, if you applied online (through intel’s website). A normal process is to review the applications (for most companies is) by filtering the GPA requirement. Then they will consider those with extensive background, or schooling.
