We have 4/5 years of pharm B course in our country, pharma D not available. In that case I will gonna continue my bachelor but would be that good for career I have wanted to do pharm D course, but my parents can’t afford for abroad tho I have big interests in that field. I’m thinking about masters in pharmacy from any Ivy with scholarship which Ivy would be best and what things require?
As far as I know, no Ivy league university has a School of Pharmacy, so you cannot get a masters in pharmacy at any Ivy league university. Like most professional schools, scholarships are few and far between, and, as an international student, it is highly unlikely that any public university would provide you with a scholarship to train as a pharmacist. There may be smaller, lesser well known pharmacy school which provide financial aid for international students.
You can do a Google search for pharmacy schools the USA that have financial aid for international students.
I would suggest that you look at pharmD programs here…if that is what you want to do. But it’s unlikely you will get full funding as an international student. The Ivy League schools are not listed in the top pharmD schools here.
In addition, what do you plan to do when you are done? You will need to return to your own country probably after you get a degree here.
What do the job listings for the pharmacists working in hospitals and grocery stores require in your country? What about the job listings in research? What are the licensing requirements? Start with the job you want, figure out what is required to get there. It sounds like there must be big differences between countries in what is required (why would they not have a PharmD available if it was widely needed?)
PharmD programs in the US aren’t generally funded and are VERY expensive (I know someone who still has 200K in debt a decade after finishing the program).
A PhD in Pharmacology may be funded but that would be leading to a different career track (research). Is a PharmB something that would make for a competitive background for pursuing the PhD?
So why would you go into debt to get a Pharm.D. degree in the US???
Once you get the Pharm.D. degree you have to return to your country because you won’t be allowed to work in the US.
There are too many pharmacy graduating students and they continue to build pharmacy schools at every university because it brings in money.
You will have paid at least $250k in US$ to attend school. That’s if you get in, and that’s if you can get funded by your family. Every student getting into these schools has strong credentials and is funded by the Bank of Mom and Dad, or, has taken out massive US loans. As a non-citizen you do not qualify for US loans.
So my question again is why would you come to the US for a Pharm.D. degree that you cannot afford and will not be funded by US universities?
