I know that it may be a bit too early to tell but how do my chances look so far and if they do not seem too high, what can I do to get in? Should I add more extra-curriculars? Should I start studying for my SAT/ACT now?
Figure out what you want to do in college (or what you think you may be interested in). Get involved in extracurriculars that help you further concentrate on those interests. Moreover, just do and keep doing what you love. No one can give you an accurate prediction of getting into colleges, especially when dealing with colleges that are as selective as the ones that you are interested in.
The biggest thing I can tell you is that you should do what you love, do well on standardized tests (start studying for those this upcoming summer), and make sure that your grades follow an upward trend. Chances are you’re gonna take harder classes during junior and senior year. If you can get your GPA up and show that upward trend, it’ll certainly help because you’re competing against students with perfect/near-perfect GPA’s.
Most of all, don’t be stereotypical. Be unique, stand out with everything that you do and don’t be afraid to take risks in high school. There are so many activities that I ended up doing in high school that I never thought of doing, and I can honestly say that those are the things that helped me throughout the college application process this year.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
Your grades are pretty good so far. Start studying over the summer of Junior year for the SAT.
