@SuperGeo5999, you seem to be all over the place with your threads and posts. You may want to consider your counseling center for some help and guidance for your future.
@NASA2014 I did one semester of Earth Science in high school but I didn’t do the second semester. I think Earth Science is only online at my college.
Astronomy would be fun too but it’s only offered online too. I might as well be happy I have the opportunity to take Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and my social science classes because I would probably be complaining if my Community college didn’t offer those courses either.
Is there a reason you can’t take online classes?
“Is there a reason you can’t take online classes?”
@bodangles It’s not that I can’t take them online. it’s that if I take an online science course I might miss out on the lab component. do online science classes ever have you do labs? There probably isn’t really any labs in Astronomy class because everything is in space and the only way to see it Is through a telescope. do you think online Astronomy classes would have events or times where students go to observatories and Planetariums? Earth Science definelty has lab work that I might miss out on if I took it online.
Ask your school – perhaps a counselor, or the professor who teaches the online class. That’s the only way you’ll be able to find out for sure.
Consider this and check out since you’re not doing anything:

None of those links letted me see what was on there websites. the problem could of been anything.
Yes, because the filter blocked them – see the asterisks? Search for those courses on Coursera, as he followed up to say.
Did it work out?
If you have a local planetarium and/or observatory you can get info opportunities for the public.
Yes there is an astronomical society in my county.
in Chemistry class is there labs done on water Quality or Water Chemistry? In Physics class during the hydrostatics unit is there experiments done on the pressure of liquids? Please get me excited about taking Biology, Chemistry, and Physics so I have the foundation for the really good stuff(not saying these subjects aren’t good, they are good and it does make sense the principles of these classes are used in Geology, Astronomy, Zoology, Meteorology, Environmental Science, and all other sciences).
Found some old syllabi for the first gen chem lab at my school (I skipped both). They did a project called “The Chemistry of Natural Waters,” involving hardness and purification.
I don’t recall much buoyancy / water pressure in my mechanics class, though maybe that’s just because it was a while ago. There was a lot of that stuff in fluid mechanics and some in material balances.
I have read several of your posts and it seems that you are stuck and not able to move forward to be proactive in working towards your goals. If you really want to make things work you need to make some drastic changes in the way you think and approach situations in life and come up with a plan. Write your goals down and steps towards achieving them.
I think you really need to meet with your school advisor and discuss your goals. Is the immediate goal to obtain an associates degree? It appears you have already completed one year of school. Talk to them about what it is you are interested in and if you plan to transfer to a four year school. Talk to them about what type of gpa you would need to transfer. Are you paying for the cost of college or have you received financial aid? At some point the financial aid is going to run out so you want to make use of your time at your current school wisely. If cost is an issue you should try to at least get an associates degree and then work to save money for transferring to a four year school so that you can obtain a bachelor’s degree. At the end of the day parents can only guide their children but it is up to them to take responsibility for their schoolwork. Right now you are a student so you should be trying best to do well in your classes so that you can have an education that will help you get a job so that you can take care of yourself and not have to rely on anybody. As part of the curriculum you may have to take classes that you are not interested in but that does not mean that you don’t put any effort into those classes.
If you don’t have a car that is not a big deal. Many students don’t have cars and take public transportation even after they graduate and get a job. Not everyone has money to take vacations. That is how life is. You have to make best with what you have and what you have control over. Right now you are enrolled in school and you should put all your effort in doing your best so that you have a bright future ahead of you. Don’t think about high school or the past. It is not the end of the world if you didn’t go to prom. Think about what you can do at present to make your future better and work towards that. Ask your advisor to help you find a mentor that you can meet on a regular basis to make sure that you consistently work towards your goals and offers you helpful advise to land internships and other experiences that will eventually lead to a fulltime job. You want to obtain skills that will lead to employment and a better future.
Take responsibility for that and be fully dedicated to it. The self discipline has to come from within. Nobody can make you wake up everyday and follow a schedule or make you study. You have to have the willpower to do that on your own. Everyone doesn’t have the perfect family or is in the best situation but we can’t use that as an excuse to not focus on our goals. We have to work hard if we want to make something of ourselves and be successful.
There are people in lot worse circumstances than what you are in and would love to have the opportunity to go to school even if it is a community college just to make a better life for themselves. Value the opportunity that you have and don’t take it for granted. Put your 150 percent effort into your classes and towards your goals to make them come true. I think many on this board have given very helpful advise. Read all the posts over again and take notes on things that you can do to improve your situation. Best of luck.
As a frame of reference I am a parent that has raised a child by myself and it is not easy. My child doesn’t have a car to drive and we haven’t had a vacation in 10 years. Vacation for us has been staying at home when we had time off.
@raclut Should I find organizations, groups or others things to be In while I’m out for the summer? I know I should also focus on getting another Job, Internships, and other things. do you think there will be opportunities to go to other dances like mentioned in my prom thread? Do you think there could be opportunities to go on group trips through clubs and organizations like said In my travel thread? Do you think family doesn’t have to be blood like metioned in my family thread? Should I think of my minimum wage retail Job as a stepping stone towards internships, better Job while I’m in school whether in retail or related to my major, and the better job I may have after graduation? Do you think it’s a good thing how I enjoy video games even though they may not always be a healthy or productive activity? It is true that no one can give me my dreams, give me accomplishments, or make my life the way I want it no matter how much the quality or quantity or both of someone’s family and support is. I believe in the responses I’ve gotten in previous threads it’s just that I like to see everyone’s individual opinions. sorry this is a mess.
Yes I’m paying for school with financial aid but if I stay on track I should have an associates degree in Pre-Engineering or have atleast one or two semesters of community college done before transferring. Some programs I’m interested in there is not a direct transfer pathway for so getting an associates degree may not be the most reasonable thing to do.
@raclut i’m sorry you’ve had to raise a child on your own and have not been able to go on a vacation in a long time.
Suprised you didn’t mention “Zoology, Meteorology, and Environmental Science”
