What should I do to get into stanford undergraduate if my GPA is between 2 to 3.5 ?

I am a student in India. I got a C in 9th grade and a B in 10th grade. Working on 11th.
I even am an Entrepreneur with a consumer electronics business (mainly portable speakers, headphones, earphones - All designed by me)
I want to major in product design and minor in psychology.

I just want to know what I am supposed to do from here on to get into Stanford university (undergraduate) ?
I even want to know what I am supposed to opt for in high school if I want to major in product design ?

From what I know, school like Stanford are very, very competitive for Indian students. With a 2.0-3.5 GPA, your chances of being admitted are quite low.

I’d go ask the people in the International Students forum.

is product design a major offered at stanford?

With that GPA, I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t be qualified to do the work at Stanford. Therefore, you wouldn’t make it past the first round of scrutiny.

sweetcupcake - yes product design is a major under the mechanical engineering department

But is there anything I can do to get into stanford ? And 3.5 is not my final GPA score, I still have to complete my 11th and 12th grade.

You have two options.

Go to school “part-time”, or do not complete one full year as a “full-time” student and apply as a freshman. Gives you a chance to prove success as a college student.

Take a year or two off before going to college. Many students are choosing to do this and colleges accept this. It can lead to many great things, but what you choose to do with your time off is up to you, or your mom.

Among USA students, Stanford recalculates GPA without 9th grade, so your overall GPA can be pulled up substantially with top grades in 11th and 12th. I don’t know if Stanford recalculates for international students. Beyond GPA, the later year grades are more important since they have the greatest bearing on how you’ll do in college, particularly with college prep classes. Stanford also has different grade expectations for different countries, fitting with their different grading systems. For example, a 3.5 GPA in India may be a much more or less significant achievement than a 3.5 in the USA. I don’t know much about the grading system in India. However, I’d expect it would be quite unlikely to be admitted without grades towards the top of your class. Stanford has the lowest admit rate of all academic colleges in the United States, so it’s quite rare for below average students to be accepted.

become an Olympic athlete for India and get recruited to continue that sport @ Stanford…not being sarcastic…have two guys like this in one of my 20 person classes right now…it’s pretty much impossible to get in on academics alone as an international student…competition is brutal for them

True, competition is even more brutal for internationals. But there are about 160 internationals in this year’s freshman class (just calculating 10%) and they are mostly non-athletes. So you know, I’d say go for it!
