My two years of AP classes have been fun, but the scores I received were less than pleasant. I got 3s on every test I took, which really puts me in an awkward position. As a student about to start his Senior year, I am very ambivalent on whether I should report my scores on my application or not. They are not exactly good scores, but they are still something.

AP courses:
US history
European history
English lit

Looking for colleges such as NYU, Columbia, Chicago, Syracuse…etc.

I have never looked at an application before so this might sound a little bit odd. Since the scores are optional, does the school have the ability to look at the score or ask you for it. What would you do?

Colleges don’t have the ability to look at your score if you don’t self report it, however they might wonder why you didn’t take the test if you don’t report a score.

AP scores are supposed to be only for credit and placement purposes after matriculation, but one has to then wonder why they are asked for on college apps at all.

^No on really knows, since we are not an ADCOM, but we can speculate based only what is told to us. So that would be that they are optional but play some small role in admissions.
