What should i expect?

i just got accepted in the Clinical Laboratory Science major. is there anything i should do this summer to prepare for the classes? and how many people are there yearly in this program?

It’s not a very big major. I’ve only met a couple people in it but, for what it’s worth, they seemed to like it.

As far as preparing for classes, there’s really no need. Most students with AP credit go back and re-take their intro courses (Bio, Gen. Chem, Calc) so it should be mostly review if you studied appropriately in high school. On the other hand, if you have not taken any of these courses, you can find out which textbooks you’ll need after orientation and get a 1/2 chapter head-start on those a couple weeks before the semester starts.

However, if you’re highly motivated, which it sounds like you might be, then the Summer Chemistry Program might be for you.

If you’re willing to start college early, then this will give you great momentum throughout the remaining four years. Knocking 9 hours off of your degree early on will make your future semesters feel a lot lighter. It includes the FRI (Freshmen Research Initiative) intro course which is something you will definitely want to take if you’re interested in research at all.

Props for already looking in to this. That attitude will work wonders for you later on.

thank you! this helped alot!
