What should I expect?

I made a recent post about failing my first semester at a 4-year, and it seems like theres nothing I can do about that. I’m currently at a CCC and have about a 3.9 there. With my first semester included, and assuming I continue on my trajectory of mostly As, I’ll have around 3.2 GPA by next spring. My IGETC will also be completed by then.
I’m applying to UCs as a History major, and I don’t really stand out as far as ECs go. Just a part-time job, some volunteering (which I plan on doing more of) and some niche hobbies.
My question is: what can I expect during this upcoming cycle? I understand that they like to see upward trajectory, but I also understand that this by no means makes up for how lackluster my GPA is. So how much could it really help me?
I’d like to get an idea of the best schools that I have a realistic chance at getting into so that I can plan my classes that I’m taking this fall around their articulation agreements. I’d also appreciate any advice or insight you can offer regarding the application process. Thank you.

This link should help you gauge your chances. Do you plan to TAG to one of the UC’s?

Interesting. Thanks for that. I just looked into TAG, and some of the colleges mention needing a certain GPA in “UC transferable coursework”. Do you have any idea what that means? Because not all of the classes that I failed in my first semester are “UC transferable”, so could those be left out of the calculation?

Here is the UC TAG matrix and the GPA is based on the UC transferable courses.

So if a course I took previously does not have a UC equivalent, it is not considered UC transferable?

Unfortunately it is up to each UC campus to determine transferability of the other University’s course’s.

Transferology may help with the articulation of some of the courses.

This is not necessarily the case. An example would be a history of some local region course that may be considered transferable as an academic history course, but not equivalent to any specific history course at a UC. Another example would be a foreign language course for a language not taught at a UC.
