What should I improve about my self?

Hey guys,

I’m going to apply cornell university. Here’s my general sitiuation:

-I’m an international student

-SAT’s: Read: 470 (horrible)
Mat: 740
Writing: 640

-Subjects: MAT level 1: 760 Mat level 2: 700 Physics: 680

-GPA: 3.6

-Top 10th in graduating class

*-Alumni relationships: Father and uncle are Cornell alumni.

-Writing skills (I got 3rd in a big writing competition) and I got my essay published in Turkish Daily News.

-Sports:
Basketball: I’ve came 2nd in Istanbul, 5th in Turkey Championship
Schools Track team: Served for 2 years, came 5th in Istanbul Championship (shot put)

-Very very very strong extracurricular activities

-Organized a conferance, in order to educate poor parents in the local area.

-Worked in a factory for 1 month.

I’m going to apply to engineering school. What should I do to improve myself? I have 4 months left. I can take 2 sat’s what should I do? And, should I apply early or regular? (if I apply early, I can’t send my november score) Help me out! what are my chances?

i’d say focus on the READING/VERBAL SAT right now…you can study for it…just make sure you know your pre-fixes and suffixes for vocab…and google for a list of literary terms…

Should I retake Reasoning or subjects first? Should I apply in early decision? How will early decision benefit me?

everyone’s chances are pretty much higher if they apply early decision.

thanks. any other suggestions?

your subjects scores are low for engineering. i would try to retake math2c and physics. especially the math2c, a lot of engineers have a 800 (1/5 of everyone who takes it nationally gets a 800).

also, although the basketball and writing are good activities to have on an app, i think the admissions committee would like to something more related to the sciences and engineering.
