I am a high school junior and I aspire to become a cinematographer!
I cannot afford to go to an out of state and no local colleges offer cinematography/film programs, but they do offer broadcast journalism. Can I major in broadcast journalism (maybe interning from some local television stations) and then somehow move on to film productions? How would I go about this? Thanks in advance! :D

Please Google Training for cinematographer because you are way off base.
Hopefully, that will get you started on the right path.

No offense, but do you even know what a cinematographer/DP does?

I find it odd that you want to be something that you seem to know so little about.

A degree in broadcast journalism would be worthless unless you have an interest in working in Broadcast Journalism. What you need is an awesome reel and contacts in the production end of the FILM industry that can vouch for you. You’re best is to go out of state and going to school in California or New York because that’s where the film industry is and where the film schools that matter are.

Best of luck.
