Georgetown is my absolute dream school, but I doubt I have much of a chance. What should my safeties be?
Female Caucasian (My parents are middle eastern, and I have grandparents from Africa), so I am considering checking the box for both white and black.
3.65 Unweighted GPA 3.9 Weighted GPA (low for Gtown, but it was brought down from some personal stuff during my sophomore year, which I want to explain in my essay.)
2250 SAT (750 Reading, 700 Math, 800 Writing)
8 APs by end of senior year, 5s on all taken so far
SAT 2: 750 US History 750 English Language 730 World (I took AP Euro, but then took the World History subject test, thats why its so low)
Top public school in the state

ECs: (For the sake of time, I will shorten these)
800 hours of community service, emphasis on working with the disabled. President of 1 club, Historian of another. Published poet, freshman mentor, sunday school teacher, advisor for battered teens, peer tutor, NHS member, Mock trial outstanding witness, Model UN Outstanding delegate, Junior State of America Pres. etc.
Leadership in music as well, writing, history, and community service.

Chances for Gtown, Boston College, Northeastern, NYU, Uni of Southern Cali, George Washington?

Thanks for your time!

Do you need significant financial aid? If so, NYU will be a reach at best – you will be trying for the few big merit scholarships there, not merely admission, since NYU need-based aid has a poor reputation.

Try the net price calculators at each school’s web site to get an idea of where you stand financially at each school.

Your safeties are probably state universities in your home state that do not consider “level of interest”, or big-merit-guaranteed-for-stats schools like the University of Alabama schools (Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, and Huntsville all offer such big merit scholarships – presumably, if your stats get the top merit scholarship, they should get admission as well).

Thank you!
I already have over $50,000 of scholarship money due to writing competitions I’ve won, so I hope NYU won’t be a huge reach.

NYU is close to $60,000 per year, so check those net price calculators.

I will! Thank you for your time :)

Are you a junior or senior?

Do you have Black grandparents or are they White, but from Africa? Your statement seems odd because you say that your parents are Middle Eastern, but you don’t state that they are Black.
