What should see/do during Cal Poly visit

Well first congrats to you son on being admitted EvirE!!
Around town you could eat at one of the restaurants on the other thread. At Novo you can eat outside by the creek. At Firestone you will see a lot of students. Check out the Mission. Try to be here on a Thursday as they close Higuera street down and there is a great Farmer’s Market! Oh and Bubble Gum Alley. Check out a movie at the historic old Fremont. Or go to the drive in (not many of those left). If you like the outdoors you could hike up Bishop’s Peak and get a bird’s eye view of the area. There is also great hiking at Monano de Oro but that is about a 15 minute drive from Poly. If you are a runner ask someone on campus about the trails/loops in Poly Canyon. It’s a great run and you’ll see some of the acreage that the school owns. Or drive to one of the local beaches. They are about 10 minutes away. Pismo and Morro Rock are popular for surfers. Avila is smaller and generally has nicer weather. Further down the road from Avila is Port San Luis. Here you can get fresh locally caught seafood or at the end of the pier eat at the Old Port Inn where the tabletops are glass so you see the ocean beneath you. Or drive ON the beach at Oceano Dunes next to Pismo. There are a lot of tasting rooms and a beautiful vineyard out in Edna Valley. Edna, Saucelito and Baileyana all look out over the vineyard.
Anyway enjoy your trip. It’s a great town and great place to go to school!!
