What should the paper size be for my recommendation letters and printed application materials?

<p>I’m sorry to ask this but I was just really curious as to the exact paper size (in inches) that Americans use when applying to colleges. In my country, the usual paper is ‘letter’ with dimensions 8.5"x11". However, I am not sure if this applies to the US as well.</p>
