What should we give for HS graduation gifts?

We have a niece graduating from HS this year and plan to send a check, but wonder what is customary, if there is a customary amount. There are a couple more coming up in the next couple years, so I want to be able to do the same for each of them.

I think it depends upon how many nieces and nephews you have, and how much extra money you have floating around! We have a ton of nieces and nephews on my husbands side…we usually send $50, that is, if we remember. Sometimes we slip up. I only have two nieces on my side, so I sent them $100.

We give $50.00 for high school and $100 for college. We haven’t started with the Graduate school gifts yet, but it will probably be $100 also.

I recieved anywhere from $25 to $100, with the most common amount being $40.

I’d say $50 is a nice round amount.

I think for high school I got between twenty and a hundred. Plus some actual gifts. Really nice set of luggage has came in handy quite often.

I just sent my niece a $100 gift card that I’d ordered from her future college’s book store. She was thrilled. We only have her and her brother to gift (I’d sent him a $100 check) so now we’re done until college graduation!

We give $20 or $50 or $100 depending on who it is. We have gotten invited through the years to parties of the kids’ friends where we barely know the parents and we just know the kids in passing so those are the twenty dollar ‘gifts.’
