What small appliances do you own?

I have an iron that I very rarely use. When QMP was in elementary school, I was occasionally wondered whether some test would include a picture of an ironing board, and QMP would be clueless about it.

Along those lines, when my spouse was in first grade, he had a worksheet to draw lines between items on one side, and Mother, Father, and (probably) the children, the dog, and the cat on the other side. He drew a line between the sewing machine and the father. (His dad was an industrial designer who was working on sewing machines at the time, and talked about them. He did not actually sew at home!)

I would have drawn a line between the sewing machine and my grandpa! He was a tailor, and he was pretty much the only one who used the heavy industrial Singer we had in the house (until I grew tall enough to reach the foot pedal). My mom could not sew to save her life. Dad occasionally used the machine to sew covers for his motorcycles.

I have not used my sewing machine in a while. Alterations folks at Nordstrom can do the job with less setup costs and more efficiently.

Our sewing machine is one of the items that has gone to Goodwill.

Back in the day, I sewed all my dresses in HS, including lined prom gowns and dresses. My mom stopped seeing once my older sister and I learned how.

I stopped sewing once I realized my aunt who was 50 pounds heavier and 40 years older sewed and wore the same size–then switched to buying off the rack things that fit perfectly.

No toaster–just make toast in the toaster oven. I don’t think a normal toaster would improve my life at all.

Neither I nor my kids or sibs have toasters but we all have and use toaster ovens. They can toast and bake. Whenever possible, I prefer baking in the toaster oven over a full size oven because it doesn’t generate nearly as much heat and dies the job nicely.

Toasters are just one more appliance and a single-function one at that. Have not had the least interest in acquiring one and when one is one as a door prize, it is always donated by our family.

We only have a toaster oven too. Don’t miss having a toaster.

My brother only has a toaster oven and it makes lousy toast and takes forever, but I can see its utility for cooking small stuff - especially when there are only two of us. My solution to that is to always, always cook enough to last two days or more.

Toasters vary a lot. I’ve taken back more than I’ve kept over the years. I have a KA toaster (with bagel setting) that is gold for proper toasting.
Love my immersion blender. I pull it out for small batches of anything mostly because clean up is super easy.

Someone up thread mentioned uses of a food processor -this week I made a pesto for a pasta salad I was bringing to a party. Tart dough for another dinner party. Last night I used it to make cauliflower rice.
I sewed a lot when my kids were young. My Mom never sewed but my step dad did. I had his old Kenmore machine for many years. I bought a newer machine about 15 years ago. I don’t use it much but I’m glad I have it.
I recently bought a Rowenta iron from Costco. I’m finally making a dent in my large ironing pile. The old Hamilton Beach iron was a piece of junk.

Except for my waffle iron, I do not have a single appliance I don’t use at least weekly, and often more than that.
