What socks to go with these flats?

I got these flats on clearance sale over a year ago, kind of odd color and regret to have bought them. What kind of socks would you ladies recommend to go with them and what color? Trouser socks or knee highs?

Thanks a lot!

I prefer to wear flats with no socks as much as possible. You could try to get the little opaque footie things (not like the ones from 30 years ago and not like the ones you use to try shoes on) - they cover the soles and toes, but don’t show outside of the shoe. Maybe a trouser thin opaque sock under pants, but color would be difficult.

I don’t wear socks with flats, either - but the footie thingys sound like a good idea.

My daughters have recently lectured me that one does not wear socks with flats also.

Counting down the posts until BunsenBurner chimes in… 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, etc.
She never turns down the opportunity to answer the question. ;)

I have never heard of anyone wearing socks with flats :open_mouth:

Lol, Teri! Still trying to decide if the OP is asking a real question or pulling our collective leg. No socks with flats or sandals is the (almost) statutory rule. ;)

If you live in a colder weather place I think it’s fine to wear tights with flats. Navy would be good with those. If you feel more comfortable with hose on, knee-highs/trouser socks could work. Not actual socks though.

No, I am not trying to pull your leg, ladies. I have no sense of fashion, I don’t even know what made me buy these shoes, they are so far out of my comfort zone!! So, if no socks, then do you wear flats in the winter time? Actually, I am not even sure what kind of slacks will go with them, oh, I don’t wear leggins or skinny jeans. I am hopeless, I really need a complete makeover, a topic for another day.

If I could return them, I would!! Oh well, I guess they would just go back to the closet! :(

Those are very cute. If you are wearing them with slacks, how about knee-high stockings? I don’t like the feeling of 'no socks" in a shoe like that (they feel sticky…ew. Sensory issues, I know…). I would wear them with slacks with tan or brown in them, khakis if you wear them, or jeans. I don’t do skinny jeans, either. :)

If you are wearing long pants, how would anyone know if you were wearing trouser socks or knee highs. Unless you’re asking about wearing them with a skirt?

I would wear those to work with khaki slacks and brown socks, knee highs if it’s mid winter!

I like those shoes! I’d go with knee-high nylons, matching either your leg or the color of your pants.

No, don’t put them back in the closet. They’re cute, and if they’re comfortable, you should wear them.
In winter, pair them with thin tights, ( or knee highs with pants) like electron blue suggested. You could go with navy, brown or black, or even maroon. In spring and summer, wear them sans socks with pants or skirts. I have a pair of bronze ballerina flats that I wear with jeans and black pants quite often. Bronze is a new neutral, and it goes with a lot of things.

Here are the shoe “liners” I mentioned. You can buy them at discount or department stores:

It has to be pretty darn cold or snowy for me to not just wear flats with bare feet. I can’t stand the feel of knee high hosiery of any type on my feet/legs!!!

Sorry, Op! Please do not put these into the closet so they would be completely forgotten. What kind of fall/winter temperatures are we talking about? I personally would not wear flats when it gets colder/rainier here in my neck of the PNW woods. That’s boots time for me. But if I were in a warmer climate and did not put my bare feet into shoes, I would wear these with the shoe liners recommended by abasket or perhaps withe nude colored trouser sock-like or knee high nylons. Definitely no colored or opaque socks!

If wearing a dress, they would look okay with brown tights. I agree with Bunsen, flats are usually worn with bare feet in fairly mild weather…once it’s freezing, I’m into boots.

I live in MN… and we wear flats all year. BUT, we often wear boots when commuting! (And down coats… ). Then just change when we get to the office. I know women who keep half a dozen pairs of shoes at the office, and just put on whichever ones go with their outfit that day. Others carry a bag with shoes in them.

I do that too ^^^ Wear boots and change into flats.

I feel like a brown tight or sock with bronze flats would look off. They aren’t a loafer (which look normal with tights and socks). I would stay with bare feet. Flats like that can also be cute with capri and the right type of skirt or dress if you need some leg coverage for warmth.

I second no socks.

Of course you can wear these in the wintertime unless there’s a blizzard outside. It’s not as if you will die if the top of your foot gets exposed to cold air! I routinely wear somewhat-similar ballet flats all through winter (and I live in the upper midwest), unless it’s actively snowing or raining or I have to walk a long distance outside. But for my everyday hop-in-the-car and go-to-work? Absolutely.
