What sort of style do IU students have?

I was just wondering about what kind of style student at IU have. I’m going to be going there next fall, but since I’m from the East Coast, I was just curious as to what kinds of clothes they wear, bags they use for books, etc. because I visited during the summer when there weren’t that many students around. :)

i hope you own 100 pairs of leggings…

I’m from the East Coast too, and honestly you don’t need to change anything about your style. There are so many people here that you will find someone who dresses the way you do. There’s a lot of girls who wear leggings, Uggs, Northfaces, Sperry’s, and Longchamp bags religiously, but there’s also plenty of people with really unique style. Don’t worry about it.

dress like a Mennonite

Thanks! That doesn’t really seem different from the style around here haha

I’ve heard that people in college don’t put as much effort into their appearance, is this true? Personally I myself love fashion and dressing up; I’m not going to walk around campus in high heels and fancy dresses but I’m not a jeans and t-shirt person, either. This is probably a dumb question, but I’m not going to stick out too much if I put more thought into my clothes, will I?

You won’t stick out. I definitely put a lot less effort into getting dressed for class in college than I did in high school, but there’s plenty of girls who look cute for class all the time.

Ok good, that sounds perfect! Since I take it that you’re currently a student at IU, can I just ask how you’re liking it so far? Out of all the schools I applied to OOS, IU is the one that I can see myself the most. I definitely need to visit campus, but from everything I’ve read, seen, and heard about the school, I am hooked.

People here dress however they want. I see people literally rolling out of bed to class, and some who get all dolled up. No one judges either way. Leila, I’m also a freshman here from OOS and I love it. Yes, it was an adjustment at first, and I sometimes wish I were closer to home (I’m from the East Coast), but overall, IU is more than I could have ever asked for.

The academics are interesting and challenging, and I’ve met so many driven, well-rounded students. The social scene is never dull, but people here find so many different ways to have fun. Everyone is super friendly and willing to help you out. THE CAMPUS IS GORGEOUS. I didn’t think it would be such a huge factor, but honestly, once you tour the campus you will understand. Sometimes I can’t believe that I live here. Even walking across campus in the freezing weather is bearable because it’s never ugly.

Can you tell that I love my school? :)
