I know about 7.4k of students comprise the freshman class over university and private certified housing over different colleges. So any input input would be appreciated.

Go out. If you know people in the frats, then you can get into those. During the first 2 weeks of school, pretty much anyone can get into the frats cause its rush week(s). The ARC closes at 10PM on weekend nights so that limits what you can do.

Agreed. Go out, meet new people, and have good time. Frat parties and apartment parties are always going on. Even if you’re not a drinker, it’s a good idea to go to them to socialize.

Hey, I take a stab at my own question–
here’s one thing UIIUC student s might do on a Saturday , during the day - go to a football game?

If u dont have tickets to the game, what are the options to 'get into ’ / see it? is it on tv or the radio , at the bars, on the big screen tv in the dorms perhaps or in the union?

Party Party Party. Theres corn, a city, and parties

so to summarize what the 7,200 UIUC freshmen do on week ends:

Party

That’s not true. Sure, MANY people go out to party, but if that’s not your thing, you can get some people together and watch a movie in your dorm, or just hang out with people that don’t drink. People think everyone drinks, but thats because when your out and you see hundreds and hundreds of people walking around, you don’t realize that there’s also hundreds and hundreds of kids in their dorms or somewhere else.

Yes-bars show the games, other places probably have vewing parties and there are always students selling their football/basketball tickets to each game so even if you don’t buy a season ticket, you’ll have a chance to go to some games. There are facebook groups by Class (ie UIUC Class of 2015 Facebook Group) and there’s a U of I student ticket exchange FB group.

thanks, mommlaw, on the game info.

During dad w/e , I discovered another thing to do on a w/e: go to the Krannert Center and see a show - we saw The Magic Flute and had a great time. Son said he has seen band performances in one of the venues at the KRannert Center.

IF we had not seen the opera , we also had the option to see the Putman County Spelling Bee play.

WHat are some of the other things to do …?

My friends and I drink from time to time, but honestly, we go out and parkour/frisbee/climb trees until the wee hours of the morning quite a bit.

At this school? Party. If that’s your cup of tea then cool, but anyone who tells you otherwise hasn’t seen the busses there at 1am And yes there are non drinkers but they are harder to find.

oh and to answer your football game question; you could volunteer in the stadium in the morning and watch the game for free if you plan it right.
