Hi guys, I was wondering which tax return was needed for the HS class of 2013 for the fafsa as I have begun to apply. Not sure if it makes sense but this was the best way to ask for me

IF you are planning to apply for FALL 2013…then you will file your FAFSA starting in January 2013, and use the tax returns for 2012.

I hope this answers your question.

As APOL said - 2012 taxes and the 2013-2014 FAFSA which will not be available until January.

The currently available FAFSA is for the 2012-2013 school year. Completing that will not make you eligible for FA for the following school year, not will it count as having met any deadlines set by the school. Make sure you complete the correct FAFSA - every year we have some students who do the wrong one and miss out on deadlines.

It is a good idea to go ahead and get your PIN and have your parent get his/her PIN set up now. That way any potential snafus will be cleared up before you actually file FAFSA.

There is some sort of forecaster you can do on the FAFSA site if you want an idea of what your EFC might be.

If you applying for ED, some schools will ask CSS that based on estimated 2012 tax information. Then if you accepted, the schools can provide you an early picture of your financial aid.
