O.K., the Notre Dame/Michigan game has been painful so far…but the halftime interview of Eminem by Brent Mussberger (sp?) was unbelievable.

Old Man Brent trying to be hip and interview a seemingly drugged out Eminem…and then playing a portion of his new “song”. A PAINful rap song…which I couldn’t quite understand. Googled the lyrics. Oh. My. God.

Berzerk will be the featured song for the series used to open the broadcast and throughout the telecast from Sept. 14 through Dec. 7. The Detroit rapper and the sports network also plan to collaborate on a second video to be used exclusively with ESPN Saturday Night Football on ABC."

Oh, joy…we get to hear this every Saturday night?? There’s gotta be a sanitized version for TV, right? Did ESPN honcho’s even look at the offensive lyrics?? Of all the talented artists, this is the best they could come up with??? Come on, ESPN…

While I don’t understand why they interviewed him, Eminem wasn’t strung out. He’s really socially awkward in all of his interviews. It’s just how he is.

With you Romani, Eminem is always like that. I thought Brent and Kurt were real pros in that interview, Kurt especially gave an impression that he knew what Marshall was doing, he wasn’t high, just awkward. It was as good as that interview was going to go.

Earlier on College Game Day they had Mark Harmon picking games and he was terrible. One word answers and even when Chris Fowler asked him to say more he didn’t. Frankly for someone who is a Hollywood big name and at Michigan to honor his father, shame on him. He knows how to do publicity and it was bad.

I turn the TV off or change the station on the radio when a show tries to inflict rap music on me. Simple as that. If they want to make me listen to rap music, they would have to mail me a check…

On a related note: I also mute the sound for the entirety of the 5 minute dramatic reading/music video that is now a standard introduction to any sporting event broadcast. Corollary is that I turn away for any “up close and personal” feature on a sports broadcast, which means that I can’t watch the Olympics since that’s the entire broadcast…
