What things are your young adult son’s asking for this Christmas?

My son probably wants a grenade launcher. He’s getting kitchen gadgets/appliances.

@deb92, my husband loves those pants. I haven’t told my sons about them, because they are so expensive. But I may mention them to my extremely minimalist son… thanks for the idea.

My oldest asked for a good Chinese Cleaver and Marty Matheson’s cookbook. Last year I found a signed first edition Anthony Bourdain Kitchen Confidential…wow all things considered. He is not in the culinary industry but food and beverage twas his trajectory during and immediately after college and now he’s veered off into risk management. So food now is just hobby. He’s available and hetero  but lives up in the mountains where the USPS doesn’t even deliver. My youngest asked for work attire - meaning something other than jeans and wool socks and flannel shirts! My middle one wants a KitchenAid mixer and a waxed Barbour jacket (expensive taste that one).

I’m curious on the car vacuum - is that like a dustbuster type item?? Our kids just usually use the free vacumn at the car wash - wash your car for $5 and then use their high powered easy to use vacuums. Fast and easy. Something they do every couple of months.

If anyone else posted this, I’d be alarmed but knowing your son is in the Army, @ChoatieMom, II’ll cut him some slack. Won’t his Uncle Sam provide him with one?

The car vacuum attaches to the cigarette burner, you have to turn your car on. I think it will be something to use that is just quick and easy.

Don’t know if I will buy this one if it won’t ship on time, but I like this idea.

^^ well it does have really good reviews!!

@momofthreeboys, if S2 received a signed first edition of that book, he would weep with joy. The culinary stuff is his passion hobby. I’m sure your S will cherish that gift.

^^Dang, should’ve put that on MY list! The thing we miss most in our “new” house (1900 ha) is the lack of an attached garage and a shopvac in it.

S2 finally sent me his list. White tshirts and black work socks. Sigh. I miss toddler toys…

@dietz199, when I saw your post I thought of this kid’s letter to Santa

Two twenty somethings sons – older one, in the work place, continues to need to fill out his professional wardrobe, realized he needs an overcoat as his patched-with-duct tape Patagonia winter jacket no longer really suffices. Younger one in college is newly single and realized that a wardrobe of sweatpants and sweatshirts may not help his social life so has asked for assorted wardrobe upgrades. I watch J Crew sales like a hawk, over buy in various sizes, and will return to our local store the stuff that doesn’t work. Otherwise, its socks, underwear etc.

High end polarized sunglasses were a hit for one on the water a lot.

And waterproof cycling socks from showers pass for the bike commuter who is too cheap to pay that much but not above complaining about cold wet feet. I may throw gloves in for good measure.

A colleague is getting everyone in his family 23andme tests. Let’s just hope they all turn out to be related!

One thing we decided to get our almost 24yo son who lives alone is a really good kitchen knife and a knife block. The idea is that every year we’ll add another really good knife to his collection.

@woodlandsmom I read the part in your post about shoes wrong at first and thought “Have they looked under the bed?”

@ChoatieMom I am a retired Combat Engineer’s wife. 'Nuf said.

Technically, a fiancé is a male engaged to be married. Fiancée is female. Apply as circumstances dictate

I bought my 31 year old son the HESS TOY TRUCK. I predict he will love it … and then leave it here. This year’s version is an RV with ATV and motorcycle inside. All come with their batteries. It should be fun for him – and then I can pass it to a nephew … or not!

@Hoggirl, did you find a coat for your son? Jos A Banks have wool blend, solid or herringbone top coats on sale for $99. Mens’s Wearhouse has a classic black rain coat as well as cashmere and cashmere blend coats on sale. The cashmere blend is about $250+

My son who is likely moving out in jAnuary didn’t ask for this, but he will be getting two nice big fluffy towels. For college he used hand me downs and those towels that dry quickly. He didn’t like the quick dry ones.
Looks like lots of clothing stores are having great sales if anyone needs last minute gifts.

I only do stocking stuffers every few years, and this year was one. I bought a battery operated toothbrush. Monogrammed money clip, stationary cards with stamps, Uber gift card and cocoa butter chapstick.
