What "tier" of schools are the NESCAC schools in?

Tier 2: Other Ivies, Duke, NW, Chicago, Hopkins, Rice, Vandy
Tier 3: CMU, USC, Berkeley, UT, Michigan, UVA, etc.
Tier 4: Others</p>

<p>I’m not a big fan of the rankings and tiers … however … the LACs are ranked separately from research universities … the top schools in the NESCAC would be tier 1 LACs while the rest probably fall into tier 2 and tier 3 of the LACs. All of them are terrific schools.</p>

<p>I’d argue that the real tier two is really a combination of the schools in your tier 2 and tier 3. Also, i’d include Penn and Columbia in Tier 1.</p>
