It’s actually hard for me to tell. Maybe in the morning when I actually get myself to do work.
Late at night.
After everyone else has gone to sleep.
Partners often got mad at me because I work best around 1-2 AM on group projects.
Between 4 am and 9 am. After 2 pm I’m basically useless.
I’m only an incoming freshman so I’m not sure how well this would work for me and I’m going to try and avoid it completely because I know it’s not ideal but in high school I would set my alarm clock for 3am and write my essays at 3am. Half because of procrastination (terrible habit I know but I’m going to do my best to not procrastinate in college and be completely organized) and half because my “creative juices” flowed to me in the middle of the night for some reason.
Around 7:00 in the evening…oh wait.
Early morning.
6 to 12 am. Like @Philpsych, my brain shuts down around 2 pm and I refuse to go to afternoon meetings. After a respite on the BART ride home, I’m good to go for another few hours by VPN.
Early in the morning or super late at night.
Late afternoon and early evening. My brain turns into mashed potatoes after 10PM.
Between the hours of 9 pm and 2 am… of course, aided by caffeine.
Between about 10PM and 4AM
I’m at my prime in the morning and get tired after 2 pm or so. I usually can get some stuff done after dinner, but I’m at my best earlier in the day.
An hour or two after dinner, so usually 8 pm until I go to bed. It’s kind of inconvenient - I wish I was most productive in late afternoon.
I am most productive after about 9 PM until the very early hours of the morning. This is incredibly unfortunate, but my body just cannot handle being awake for very long. Late at night to early in the morning is when no official business should be happening because everyone is asleep, so I’m free to work without interruption or distraction (other than myself with my computer/phone).
In the history of my undergrad, I have only missed three classes ever–twice because I overslept from this awful sleeping pattern. Thus, I do make every effort to go to class and listen. But quite often, I’m very much useless during class.
I probably start feeling productive after one or two hours after waking up. so maybe 9am-12pm.
In regards to school, I am pretty fortunate to always be happy to do homework or study. So there really isn’t a “most productive” time of the day for me. As long as I am awake I can do work. However, I typically prefer the afternoons/late nights
I particularly like getting things done in the morning. But that’s more about enjoyment than productivity.
I find I am most productive when I spread my work throughout the day. Multiple sprints are more my style than lengthy marathons.
