What tips or advice do you have for a new master's student in HCI with a research assistantship?

I will be starting my master’s program in the fall. I had no experience with research as an undergrad and I was wondering if people here have any tips/advice for me on life as master’s student, what RA-ships are like, any tips/advice pertaining to CS or HCI specifically? Thank you!

Bump, can anyone help?

Well congratulations with securing a RA ship without prior research experience.

Just some thoughts:

Read the webpages of the professors in your department and get familiar with the research groups at your college in HCI especiay and read about their work and read some of their publications. Especially if you know who you are working with read their CV and see the pubs try to read some.

Get familiar with the publications, conferences and professional associations for HCI and see if there is interesting stuff to read on the websites. Get familiar with the big names in the field.

This looks like a good place to start
