<p>I think we may take the kids to a Pier 1 in SF & let them figure out what they want. It’s tough for them to get to a Pier 1 in LA because they don’t have a car. Sounds like it’s a great store for the right person, especially for kids setting up their own place.</p>
<p>I got a bench with three basket drawers at pier one years ago - it’s still in our front hall. I mostly windowshop there, but it’s full of stuff I’d like to have if I weren’t such a skinflint.</p>
<p>Well, $50 won’t go far, but we have purchased a set of leather chairs for in front of our fireplace, a decorative mirror and chairs for our diningroom table…along with placemats, glassware, candles, drink mixes, and (too late for this) great Christmas decor.</p>
<p>Pier 1 tends to have great sales, but I have a hard time walking into one. Too much incense smell for me.</p>
<p>Thanks–that could be an issue for us, since we’re ALL very sensitive to scents of any kind. Will try to go when we’re feeling pretty good & stay there as short a time as possible.</p>
<p>Years ago I bought some very colorful cereal bowls and a large salad bowl. They have held up well, but I’d be hard pressed to spend $50 there. Now if it were Cost Plus…</p>
<p>Directors chairs for the kid’s rooms. They have all sorts of bright funky seats and backs.</p>
