What to carry stuff in other than a backpack

<p>I’d like to switch my backpack for something more grownup but haven’t got the money to invest in some nice leather bag (and I’m male so I don’t have a bag I carry usually when I go out).</p>

<p>I carry two small notebooks and some pens. I’ve seen some students carrying folders around, but I couldn’t quite tell how big these folders were, whether I could fit my two notebooks in them rather than just papers.</p>

<p>Would it be silly to carry bound notebooks in a folder? Is what I’m thinking of called something other than “a folder?”</p>

<p>A nice black messenger bag would probably do the trick. Honestly though, unless it’s got some stupid design on it, nobody’s going to judge you for carrying a backpack. It’s convenient and common.</p>
