What to do about SAT score?

I want to get admitted into any of the top 20 universities, but have scored only 1350 on the new SAT. What can I do about it?
I can’t even reappear for SAT as the deadline for the applications is 1st Jan 2017. What should I do? Should I even consider applying to the Ivy Leagues, MIT etc?
Would my extracurriculars n SAT subjects help?

What is there to do? YOu have to choose colleges where a 1350 is a viable admit score. The Ivies + M are not in your range. Unless your ECs are of national level recognition, they won’t do anything for you. Use the SuperMatch tool on the left panel of this page.

For your information, my child’s HS has an AVERAGE SAT of 1334 and only get a small handful of kids into the top US colleges each year.

Also, are you an international applicant? If so, they face the toughest odds. Near perfect scores are practically necessary due to the extreme interest by international students, the colleges’ generous financial aid policies, their quotas and their perceived prestige.

I’ve not done anything exceptional.
I play keyboard, guitar, sing (western songs) & then I’ve done a junior diploma in Indian classical vocals and am still learning (so i can sing classical too). I can play a little bit of flute too amd will complete a junior diploma in July 2017. Also I’ve done a course on Edx in music (if it matters). I write poems and got one of my poems published in a national newspaper. I had been a member of the Disha club( guidance club for students) in 10th grade. I recently participated in a Table tennis tournament, so I have its participation certificate. I’ve done some social work, so have some NGO certificates too.
I had 10 cgpa in 10th and 87.4% in 11th. Though I am not doing very good in 12th, my scores are fine.

Still no chance?

And what if I do well on SAT subject tests?

Pick different schools.

Then you should not be surprised that you’re not viable for colleges which only accept exceptional applicants – especially international ones which tend to be those nations’ top most scholars each year. Pick different schools.
