I was deferred from the Hotel School. I’m told to write a letter or type an email to the undergrad offices but i don’t know which office to contact. My SAT score improved as well. What’s the best course of action? Thanks!

Wait until February. Then write an email to your regional rep. For ideas on it, look up letter of interest/intent, and you should find stuff.

Send your SAT score now, and you can also allude to it in your letter, later.

Thanks for your advice!

What are your stats ane ec’s like?

A deferral from SHA can be converted to an acceptance. While I agree that you should not respond immediately, I wouldn’t wait too long into Feb as SHA releases decisions +/- beginning of March. (This is different from the other colleges at Cornell.) While the improvement in SAT scores may be beneficial, you may want to consider additional industry-related employment. I know; easier said than done as this time of year, but it is a huge focus in admissions.

You should contact SHA Admissions directly. I wouldn’t go through university admissions.

I forgot that not all schools release at the same time, if that’s the case, I’d send the letter in mid January

@ct1417 Thanks for the helpful insight!

@CT1417 do you know where one could find information regarding the march notification for those deferred from SHA? I thought everyone got their decisions on the first of april
@jayysun18 – the March notification date is not just for those deferred, but for all RD round decisions from SHA and ILR, along with Penn Nursing. I pulled the quote below from Dartmouth’s website, but the same info appears on all the Ivies’ sites.
I mentioned beginning of March b/c we were up at SHA in early March and they were just releasing decisions then. This quote references Feb, but in practice, I think end of Feb/start of March is more likely.
On a common date, usually in late March or early April, applicants to the Ivy institutions will be notified of admission decisions and financial aid awards, unless they have been notified earlier under Early Decision Plan or Early Action Plan procedures. (Letters are mailed beginning in February for the Schools of Hotel Administration, and Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell, and beginning in February for the School of Nursing at Penn.)
