what to do after graduating?

I am a Jr. at a good engineering school and will be graduating in a year. I am looking into career paths and I was wondering if some of the awesome folks here may be able to give me some advice. I am interested in IT consulting and maybe management consulting. I took one of those career tests and ended up with this:

Any suggestions? My counselors at school told me my options are opened to get into just about anything. I am an engineering major and will be graduating above a 3.8

Have you considered engineering to start? Frankly, if you are a new college grad you don’t have much to offer as a management consultant. Technical consulting is a good choice if you can get in with an outfit like Accenture (my alma mater), but expect to do a lot of writing. If you don’t like writing and aren’t good at it, consulting is a very poor choice of career. I was going on the results of the aptitude test, by the way. I have no idea if you like or are good at writing. When I was consulting, writing was how I spent most of my time.

You generally would go into an entry-level engineering position in a variation of the engineering discipline you chose to major in. Once you have a bit of experience and get the lay of the land you can start to determine whether you prefer the engineering design/development, project management, engineering management, or moving into some different areas like sales engineer, product management, some kind of technical support role, etc. You could also forego going into business at this time and go to grad school to become a lawyer, get a PHD and be a prof, etc.

What type of engineering are you majoring in?
