A colleague of mine has a pathological need to bring leftovers to the office. Huge bags of taco chips and containers of guacamole after the superbowl. Bags and bags of candy after Halloween. 3 “extra” pies the Monday after Thanksgiving.
Some people have been gentle with her. “Maybe you should buy less candy since you seem to get fewer trick or treaters every year?” Some people have been mean. “If you don’t want this %^& in your kitchen, why do you think WE want this %^& in our communal kitchen?” Another colleague tried the “I’m taking it over to the men’s shelter after work” trick which doesn’t really work because a homeless shelter can’t take home baked pies and won’t take guacamole that sat out all day.
People are complicated.
