what to do in NYC on a Monday/evening

We will be in the city Monday, afternoon, evening staying over until Tuesday for Dr appointments. We are staying at the Helmsley Medical tower on 71st and York, upper east side…its near our appointments…

Any suggestions for good neighborhood restaurants for lunch and especially Dinner?

I know that Broadway shows are closed Mondays…any suggestions for things to do on Monday afternoon?

Thanks in advance for all your help! You folks are wonderful : )

I love Candle 79. It is a vegetarian restaurant that makes believers out of die-hard carnivores. They use all organic vegetables and the meals are imaginative and beautifully prepared. Our favorite spot is the second floor at the tables by the window. We love the place so much we have been known to travel to NYC (from PA!) just to have a meal.

Some Broadway shows do have performances on Monday night. You could see In The Heights or Next to Normal which both have shows this coming Monday.

some times off broadway and off off broadway shows can be good, try them and they have monday shows. they will be cheaper also.

Thank you so much for the great suggestions…anyone else…restaurants or things to do in the afternoon?

Serafina is wonderful. It’s near the Met. The restaurant isn’t inexpensive, but it is good.

And good luck with the doctor’s appointment(s).

Book a reservation at Apiary – great food and they don’t charge a corkage fee Monday nights. (212) 254-0888. [Apiary | 60 3rd Avenue, NYC](http://www.apiarynyc.com). It’s the best value for a delicious meal. Hope you have fun!

Thanks …you all are the best!

Any other ideas for dinner Monday night? : )

Cafe Fiorello across from Lincoln Center is one of our favorite restaurants.

Too many restaurants to name, but Cafe Lalo for dessert if you’re willing to wander over to the West Side. It has live jazz with your pastries for no extra charge.

Movies at Lincoln Square. They’re fun with their “Hollywood” architecture for each theater.

The Paris Theater right near the Plaza. Great art movies, usually with a French twist.

H loves to visit the flagship Apple Store, open 24 hours, on the East Side (5th.)

Max Brenner (Union Square) for dessert or Serendipity 3 much closer to you or strolling around the village for Italian pastries.
