What to do when career services won't help you?

Basically I got banned from applying for jobs online for my university, because I have been doing multiple mock interviews (even though there is no limit) that no one has signed up for. My career advisers in my major won’t even write me a letter of recommendation saying I haven’t interacted with them enough when in reality kept in contact with them and did volunteer work for their organization. I tried getting help from my profs and other faculty members for my academic career. I feel so worthless, how else am I going to secure an internship?

What to do when career services won’t help you?

Look for one on your own. Everyday I search for an internship, I see a plethora of them. Commercial banking, investment banking, federal reserve, hedge funds, State gov’t internships, Federal internships, and the list goes on.

I don’t see what’s wrong with this. Mock interviews are to help students gain skills to succeed.

Your goal is to get your resume to the hands of the recruiters without the career services. This can be done by attending info sessions they may hold at your school, applying online, talking to alumni, or simply networking with as many people as you can.

Now that I think about it, both my last internship and my future summer internships were gotten through applying online and networking, respectively.
