I’m an ESL student, most of my classes r standard, except math.

I messed up my 1st year of high school, got only 2.96 GPA out of 4, it is hard to bring my gpa gets higher. i tried 2 get more challenged classes i am a sophomore now, and i have advanced algebra+honor geometry+honor spanish. I tried to get my bio classe into honors but the department head told me bio standard and honor r very full now…I usually get straight A but it doesnt rly work because Im all in standard.

I want to get into Boston University, but I have low gpa and i dont think i will get a high SAT score. Do I still have chance? I calculated if i get A’s in the next 2 years(sophomore and junior)I will get 3.1 GPA, I will try to keep all my grades in about 95%.

Just need some advices to help me get more GPA…
THX

If you’ve got a 2.96 (unweighted I assume) and get all As in your sophomore and junior years, then you should be going into your senior year with something like a 3.65 unweighted, which is a great GPA. That assumes you take an equal number of units/credits in your first, sophomore, and junior years. Focus for now on just doing well in the classes you are in. At the end of this year/beginning of next year see if you can find some resources to prep for the SAT.

Good luck!

Many schools (i.e. Princeton) actually throw out your freshman record and focus on the last 3 years. Also, course correcting like lynxinsider states will completely reverse the damage from your freshman year. Colleges love seeing kids that are progressing over the course of their HS years. Your Junior year is critical so get your act together now and get focused on the future and don’t worry anymore about what happened as a freshman. BU can still happen if you get back on track immediately.

Good luck!!

I live in MA and I still have a bunch of standard classes, which is u get 100%=75% in advance…
