What to do with a torn quad?

<p>I’m not sure where I should post this, so I’m sorry if it is in the wrong place.
Two weeks ago, I participated in a relay with my cross country team which included sprinting. I definitely was not built for sprints because I always end up pulling something when practicing them. During the first week, I assumed my legs were just sore, but as I kept running over time, my everyday limping worsened. I haven’t been cleared to run for the last week but my pain/limping hasn’t changed. The school physical therapist doesn’t really do much, he just says if you can participate in your sport or not, and he said my quad is torn pretty badly. I’m just a little confused as to how bad it is, how long I should be out for, and what else should I do?</p>
