I’m no longer applying to a certain college. What do I do with the application I started online? Do I just let it sit there or what?

You don’t have to do anything. If you haven’t paid an application fee, you haven’t applied.

But it might be courteous to email the admissions office and inform them that you will not be completing the application that you began, and they can close out your file.

If it is a Common App college, there is a way to delete colleges. We did it the other day when D2 pared down to her final list. She had started a couple of supplements, and just deleted the colleges.

As an aside… it would be great if more colleges offered an “opt out” choice to get off their mailing lists! D2 has several she visited and is no longer interested, but they keep peppering her with mailings. A couple were phoning as well… took care of that by getting rid our our land line recently. :D
